Sunday Meanderings

I'm enjoying a quiet Sunday morning and thinking it's time for another post.

I had a fabulous time scrapping with my crop peeps at The Scrapbox Friday and Saturday, really didn't accomplish much in the way of scrapbooking but that so wasn't the point and really never is. Last weekend was productive as I managed to make 30 of these cards, which were scraplifted from here:  http://confessionsofatwentysomethingartist.blogspot.com/2010/11/5-for-friday.html.  Krista is a very talented scrapbooker, love looking at her ideas and well she happens to be from the same province, who knows maybe we have some other connection than just the love of creating with paper.

Christmas Cards

At the beginning of this year I had challenged myself to make 10 Christmas cards a month. Well that just didn't happen, after Christmas I just didn't want to see or do anything Christmassy.  Despite that I  have just about completed all the cards I need for this season.  Yeah for me!

On another note, Christmas is going to be extra special this year.  I and many others are waiting for this guy to show up. His name is Daniel Edward Joseph.  He will be the first grandchild and my first nephew.  So can't wait to meet him and hold him.   His mom and dad are two very lucky people to get to bring him into this world and watch him grow.

November

For as long as I can remember I have always found it to be a trying month.  It doesn't mean that it's a bad month it just seems that everyone is a little more tired, a little more irritable, they have a little less energy and well all that tends to suck my energy also.

Lately I have had a real pull towards returning home, being home, missing home.  I have been trying to figure out why.  Right now I'm blaming it on November.  So yesterday I come back to the condo and I read this post from 1000 Awesome Things.  It is so true.  I moved away from home a little over 4 years ago and I still want to go back.

I am also trying to be grateful this November for all the good things that have happened this month.  just to name a few and in no particular order.

I got to go to an awesome movie last night with a friend.
I had the opportunity to participate in amazingly creative scrapbooking classes.
Saw some breakthroughs with people at work
Just got an awesome deal on a plane ticket
Went cross border shopping with a dear friend, more importantly we had the opportunity to spend the whole day together
Get to talk to my mom everyday

Life is good, and hey next week we get to see December.

December Daily 2010

Last year I discovered Ali Edwards' December Daily and just had to do one.  Well I finished it sometime in March.  Still love the project, however I resolved that this year would be different and I would have the base pages completed by December 1st.  I am pleased to say that I am getting there and it is only November 16, yeah for me!

Now to plan the pictures get them printed and do some journaling.
December will be here before you know it.

SNOW!

It's October 30 and it's snowing!  Way to early to be seing this white stuff, and this much of it. I just have to keep remembering that life is good, I'm really it's only snow, right?

Love the 1000 Awesome things blog.  October 27, the creator posted a video of a speech he had given explaining where the idea for the blog came from.  Amazing speech, ranks right up there with Catriona Lemay Doan, Craig Kielberger and whoever else I've had the opportunity to see speak.  Here is the link check it out.

Book Club Babes

Just back from another fabulous book club meeting.  I think the book we were supposed to be discussing was La Prisionniere.  Apparently good book, I didn't read it, didn't purchase or acquire the book.  The best part is that it really never matters if any of us reads the book.  The company, the chat, and the food was all awesome.  I look forward and cherish meeting up with these girls.  We always have a fab time, no matter the place or the book.

We've selected Shadow of the Wind for our next meeting. I plan to read this book, hopefully I will finish it before the get together.  So happy that there is no pressure to actually comply.

Passed Manotick station on my way home and notice that Third World Bazaar is opening soon for the season.  Check it out here: http://www.thirdworldbazaar.ca/

Tomorrow starts another work week. Yeah, not, would so love to sleep in and spend the day in my jammies.

Long Distance Friendships

When you move around you end up having long distance friends.  This is such a blessing but at times can be hard.  I have met some dear people in my life and will hold many of them close for the rest of my life.  Some of these friends live in far away places and when I would so love to just drop in and have tea with them chat, email and telephone conversations have to suffice.  Thank goodness for technology.

Tonight I had an amazing chat with one of these friends and it would have been so nice to be in her kitchen, but alas that is not possible.  Over the years we have drifted but somehow one hello puts us right back to the time and place when we were in each others living rooms 4 times a week.

Today's lesson, cherish your friendships and put the work into them so you never lose touch.

Annual Physicals

Yes they have to be done, but man do I ever hate them. Sucks my energy dry.

Went for some retail therapy afterwards and purchased a shelving unit at IKEA to store some of my scrapbooking supplies.  One of these days I'll get those under control.  In the meantime I'm having a blast creating with them.  So storage space is the solution.  Not the normal run of the mill Retail Therapy but hey it was what I could cope with.

Over the past couple of month I have watched a few hoarding shows and questioned whether I hoard anything and well yeah scrapbooking supplies.  I have them everywhere, so I committed to using all of my old stash.  Bear in mind I can see all of my floors, there is no clutter in most of my living space except the spare room/craft room and a space in my living room.  So there is no need to call an organizer or psychologist to come help find a sink.  It was working, then CHA Chicago happened and well it was just too enticing.  I have been restrained but have purchased some lovely MME Lost and Found paper.  Looking forward to getting my hands on the embellishments.

Unexpected

Have you ever expected the worst, expected to be questioned and under fire for something?  Well today I learned a lesson, not to expect the worst.  One it really isn't worth the worry or the stress of worrying about it and two happy surprises happen where things just work themselves out.  I was anticipating a heavy duty meeting today and well turns out everyone put their cards on the table and said yeah we're all learning so lets make sure we keep the communication lines open and work together to do the best we can.  Hey what more could you ask for!

Summer is over

Got to go back to the rock in August, I had a fabulous time.  As always the time was just too short.  Enjoyed all of my time with family and friends.  So nice to relax and do SFA for a while.  Vacations are wonderful things.  Can't wait for my next one.

Just got back from Montreal. Had another fabulous weekend.  I went to see Inception, yeah that's 3 hours of my life I will never get back.  The special effects were amazing, took the writer 10 years to write the script, not sure if that was long enough. Did a whole lot of laughing as I left the Theatre and everyone was commenting on levels of dreams and what was real and what wasn't.  In the end doesn't really matter.

Fun Times

I had an opportunity today to give a little Thank you to the people I work with.  So often we forget to recognize all the good that people do.  I had the best time serving up what I called my chocolate brownie berry sundaes for everyone.

What was even better was that I wanted to show my appreciation for all the work that they do and in turn they were so grateful that I took the time to show them.  I really am where I am supposed to be right now.

Gravel Pit camping weekend

It's a beautiful day in Ottawa, would rather have the wind and rain in Newfoundland.

This blog under construction.  It is a place to post some of my thoughts and to share some of my right-brain creations.
